This one-story Mutholy house is space-saving and easy to maintain

Joshy Nadayil and his wife Lisha, both native of Mevada, Pala, had started planning their new home as soon as they bought a piece of land in Mutholy. They wanted a one-story house because they believed it would nurture warmth and love between family members. Plus, it would also be easier to maintain.

They hired well-known engineer Sreekanth Pangappadu, who designed a beautiful one-story house for the couple’s friend to create their dream home.

Sloping roofs paved with adobe bricks give the facade a traditional charm. Interestingly, the GI truss roof was installed over the flat roof here. The space between the two roofs can be used as a usable area. The two bay windows on the half-timbered roof open to the east and bring in lots of golden sunshine and fresh air.

The long seat with the picturesque entrance and the square columns affords a majestic view of the east-facing elevation.

This fascinating home has a sitting area, family and formal living areas, dining area, kitchen with study area, four bedrooms and a built-in bathroom.

The bedrooms are spacious with attached bathrooms and fitted wardrobes.

The rustic open kitchen is easy to maintain. There is a two-seater breakfast table in the kitchen, which saves space. The work area is now spacious. There is also an extension area in which there is also a storage area, washroom and a useful staircase.

Even if the construction was delayed by the Covid-19 situation, the family is happy that they were able to celebrate the inauguration ritual and move into their dream home.
