The institution is confident that its new “Cranberry Investment” strategy will enable students to pursue career paths.

Rider UniversityThe Bureau of Career Development and Achievement reports that 90% of students are either “employed, graduate school, or volunteer” within a year of graduation.

A new plan has been unveiled that promises to make these results even stronger.

The University of Lawrenceville, New Jersey said that students who begin the Class of 2022 and complete their degrees will get an entry-level job in their subject area within six months of graduation, or in the graduate or under a new initiative Vocational school will be included Cranberry investment.

There are a number of caveats associated with this type of investment – as numerous other higher education institutions have noted in their own similar plans over the past decade. For example, if Rider doesn’t place students within six months, the university will offer career coaching, a potential six-month paid internship, or up to nine credits for additional coursework, provided they can hold a 3.0 GPA degree.

So, is this just another gimmick to get students into the doors and stay in school?

The catchphrases of recruitment and retention were a familiar refrain as colleges attempt to make up for enrollment losses and layovers. Many have offered guarantees for everything from free lessons to an insured graduation. As students seek their opportunities and seek the best returns on investment during a pandemic – and sometimes with great promises – the uncertainty for the institutions is high.

However, over the past five years, Rider has done more than just propose initiatives. The CDS has worked hard to get students on relevant career paths, including launching a program called “Last Year” Raise barriers The aim is for 95% of students to take part in internships, research and other activities.

“Students investing in driver education should feel confident that we are doing everything in our power to ensure they reach their full potential,” said Gregory G. Dell’Omo, President of the Driver.

Promise promise

For comparison the private ones Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, offers students a six month job guarantee – and notes that it is 100% guaranteed to reassure potential attendees that they will be placed when they sign up and complete a series of steps and graduate – or Thomas Pay off their student loan for a year or enroll them in one of their Masters courses for free.

The standards students must meet are high: they must graduate with a 3.0 GPA, “demonstrate leadership,” do community service, and meet monthly with the professional and professional development teams every month until they get a job to get.

The driver’s terms and conditions are not easy either. For students returning in Fall 2021 and for students in grades 2025 and beyond, some timeframes are different, but these are the standards that must be followed either annually or while studying:

  • Meet with career coaches twice per semester
  • Get resumes approved by career trainers
  • Follow Rider’s Academic Integrity Guidelines
  • Maintain good academic status
  • Complete enriched work experience every year
  • Take a career planning course for professional development every year
  • Have a GPA greater than 2.75 (or a minimum major requirement) upon graduation.
  • Meet all curriculum and co-curriculum requirements
  • Meet financial commitments
  • Continue the job hunt with Rider’s Career Development and Success team for six months

For those in the class of 2025 and later, students must complete eight semesters or ten with a dual degree and complete a range of assignments during their freshman year of study.

In addition to helping out as a career coach, Rider University said it would endeavor to help students acquire internships and opportunities to collaborate at school.
