Southbury Parks and Rec Announces Cottage Lighting Contest!



Families and local businesses are invited to decorate their home or business to spread the Christmas cheer for everyone. Once your home or business is set up, please fill out our registration form below Photos are not required, only the registration forms. Submissions must be received by Thursday, December 9, 2021. be submitted.

Contest categories include:

  • Happy & bright (best use of light)
  • The north pole (best north pole design)
  • Classic Christmas (the most traditional decor)
  • Toys for outsiders (best use of inflatables)
  • Santa’s workshop (best use of physical or illusionary movement)
  • Winter wonderland (best winter theme decoration)
  • Festival of Lights (best Hanukkah decoration)
  • Rock around the Christmas tree (Award for best use of music and technology).

The evaluation will take place on Monday, December 13th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 14th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. All participants must leave lights on for both days between these hours in order to qualify to participate (If your house light is not on, your house will not be assessed). Our judges will drive to homes and local businesses on one of the days listed. Please remember that photos of homes and local businesses are taken for posting on social media, flyers and brochures for marketing purposes for Southbury Parks and Recreation. The winners of the competition will be announced by Friday, December 19. The contest winners will be posted, along with their addresses, on the City of Southbury’s Facebook page and website for all community members to enjoy.

Entry to this competition is restricted to Southbury residents and Southbury businesses.
