Fans prepare for actress Dina Shihabi’s new Netflix show

DUBAI: Franco-Algerian actress Lyna Khoudri, now a fashion regular on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, announced the release date of her latest film on Instagram and teased fans with a short clip of the new historical drama.

The film, entitled “La place d’une autre” and the English-language title “Secret Name”, will hit cinemas on January 19th, according to the actress’ contribution to Instagram Stories.

Directed by Aurélia Georges, Khoudri stars as Nelie, who escapes a miserable existence in 1914 by becoming a frontline nurse. One day she assumes the identity of Rose, a young woman from a wealthy family who dies a year before her. While posing as Rose, she meets the wealthy Madame de Lengwil and begins to work for the family, with the lie changing her life forever.

Directed by Aurélia Georges, Khoudri takes on the lead role of Nelie.

The rising star became known for her role as Nedjma in the Algerian film “Papicha”, in which she played a young design student who was determined to stage a fashion show in protest against the escalating conservatism of Algeria in the midst of the civil war.

Mounia Meddour’s feature film debut premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.

For her work in the film, Khoudri won the Orizzonti Award for Best Actress at the 74th Venice Film Festival and was nominated in the Cesar Awards’ Most Promising Actress category.

Khoudri played a number of important roles, notably in Wes Anderson’s critically acclaimed “The French Dispatch,” starring Timothee Chalamet, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swinton, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe and others.

She played a student activist and Chalamet’s love interest in the live-action film that wowed critics at the 2021 Cannes Festival.

The 29-year-old actress will also star in a new two-part adaptation of the French classic “The Three Musketeers” by Alexandre Dumas, in which she plays Constance D’Artagnan, formerly Bonacieux, alongside Francois Civil as his lover.

The Algerian-born star is also filming “Novembre”, a Cedric Jimenez thriller about the French counter-terrorism services looking for suspects after the 2015 attacks in Paris.

Most recently, Khoudri hit the big screen in Haute Couture, a French film that tells the story of a petite fashion designer named Esther (Nathalie Baye) who, after participating in her last haute couture collection for Dior, found her bag at 20 . -year-old Jade (Khoudri) was stolen from a metro station.
