Norwood Medical, based in Dayton, outside Winners Circle, employs over 1,100 people and focuses on contract manufacturing of medical components and devices, the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients for medicines and treatments, and the production of “Palacos”, a brand of bone cement for orthopedic joint replacement surgery.

Norwood Medical was originally founded in 1927 as a tool and mold manufacturer.

Earlier this year, Norwood Medical received planning permission to build a new 33,120 square foot building near the main campus in the McCook Field neighborhood.

The company announced that it will invest $ 4.5 million to $ 23 million in the facility, including new construction, equipment, machinery and inventory. With this latest expansion, around 40 new jobs were planned.

Today, Norwood Medical offers companies in the medical device industry a “full range of specialized precision manufacturing as well as secondary processing and assembly,” Heraeus said in its press release.

Heraeus, a technology group headquartered in Hanau, Germany, is an international, family-owned portfolio company. The company’s roots go back to a family pharmacy founded in 1660
